The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme running since 2013.

How ECO works
Under ECO, the energy efficient measures are funded by the larger energy suppliers in British households.
The target set for each obligated supplier is based on its share of the domestic energy market in Britain.

Working with installers the obligated energy suppliers install certain efficiency measures into your homes, such as loft and cavity wall insulation or heating measures such as boiler and storage heater replacements.
The two main obligations to the scheme are:
The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO), also known as the Affordable Warmth Obligation, is aimed at low-income households. Energy suppliers promote measures such as loft or cavity wall insulation and heating measures that will lead to financial savings on energy bills.
You are eligible to receive the ECO incentives if you receive at least one of the following benefits and satisfy the relevant income requirements, where applicable:
Tax Credits (Working Tax Credit)
Disability Living Allowance
Personal Independence Payment Attendance Allowance
Severe Disablement Allowance
Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefits
War Pensions Mobility Supplement
Constant Attendance Allowance
Armed Forces Independence Payment
If the tenant is not in receipt of any of the above awards, we would seek approval from the Local Council under the LA Flex Scheme.
Can I benefit from ECO?
In order to benefit from ECO you must own your own home or have the permission of your landlord. You can benefit from ECO regardless of whom you purchase your energy from.
